Choosing a board
Which wobble board is right for my horse?
Start simple and build up. Most horses begin on the One-directional board, then progress to more movement as their balance and confidence grow.
| If your horse… | Choose | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Has never used a wobble board | One-directional Wobble Board | £500 including UK delivery |
| Is confident on the One-directional board and ready for more | Add the Frame | £200 |
| Needs to work side to side as well as front to back | Bi-directional Wobble Board | £600 including UK delivery |
| Is being worked on two legs at a time, or in cross ties | Small Wobble Board | £250 |
| Is advanced and has been on boards for months | Circular Wobble Board (360°) | Price on enquiry |
How the boards build on each other
- One-directional. Tips forwards and backwards. Standing on it works the big muscle groups of the back, abdomen, shoulders, withers and rump, as well as the smaller muscles around the pelvis, hocks, knees and stifles.
- Add the Frame. The board rocks more, so your horse has to work harder to stay balanced.
- Bi-directional. Moves forwards-backwards and left-right, for a less stable surface and a whole-body workout. Use it once your horse is confident on the One-directional board.
- Circular. Moves through 360 degrees. This is the hardest board, and a great challenge when stepping in a circle.
The Small board sits alongside these. It’s for two legs at a time, front or hind, and fits in cross ties.
